Where bookworms feel at home

At the bookbinding workshop in DASA, visitors can see the many steps needed to produce a printed work. What can't be seen, however, are the poor atmospheric conditions that severely affected the health of the people that used to work there. Steam poured out of the glue pots on the ovens constantly and not only was the humidity in the workshops incredibly high, the air was also full of chemicals. The machines used to stamp and gild the bindings while they were also dangerous as workers could get their hands trapped in them and there was a risk of them getting burnt.
