Good Night

Special exhibition Healthy workingLeisure visitorsSchools

An exhibition about sleep

Sleep is essential to life – and we spend around a third of our lives doing it. How well we sleep affects our well-being, our health and, not least, our working lives.

We invite you to rediscover the fascinating world of sleep: What happens when we fall asleep and while we are sleeping? Why do we dream? What keeps us awake – and what helps us switch off, sleep well and wake up feeling refreshed? In keeping with DASA’s approach, particular attention is paid to the world of work. What challenges does shift work pose for healthy sleep? How does the stress of everyday working life affect us? And what worries, responsibilities and obligations keep people awake at night?

At numerous interactive stations, you can try things out for yourself and take a playful look at your own sleeping habits. There is plenty for younger visitors to discover too: they can bring along their favourite cuddly toys and explore the exhibition together with them.

For a good night’s sleep – and a well-rested day.

That’s what it’s all about

We all sleep – sometimes better, sometimes worse. How well we sleep affects our health
and our performance. Sleep is a constant companion in all walks of life – at home as well as at work.
As an exhibition on the world of work, DASA focuses on questions that affect us all:
→ Why is it sometimes so hard to switch off?
→ How does shift work affect our sleep?
→ What role do care work and mental stress play?
→ What actually happens in our bodies whilst we sleep?

The exhibition combines the latest research with fascinating facts, handy tips to take away and plenty of opportunities to get involved.

Show your cuddly toy round the exhibition

Bring your favourite soft toy along and explore the exhibition with it. For example, in the cosy corner. Fancy a bit more action? Then come and dance in our club. Along the way, you might spot some animals that are awake at night.

This is how your journey through the night will unfold

  • Falling asleep: The basics of sleep, chronotypes and the sleep industry
  • Sleeping through the night: Identifying disruptive factors and discovering solutions
  • Dreaming: Between science, imagination and the personal world of dreams
  • Staying awake: Shift work, care work and the sleep laboratory
  • Waking up: Rituals, morning people and questions for the future
